Does it comes down solely to financial stability, these days men often judge themselves on how good of a man they are based on how financially secure they are but it’s so sad to see men devaluing themselves to solely a bank account when Islam doesn’t even focus on this when it’s talking about the qualities of a man whether it’s in Hadith or Quran.
So what is a man supposed to do in a marriage?
What kind of man is the quality of a man that a woman should be looking for?
Yes in Islam a man is obligated to take care of his families needs financially but not only financially there is also a massive emotional aspect to it and women are very emotional creatures and this part is often neglected so I’m going to go through with you based on the characteristics of the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the Quran and the Hadith of what makes a good man.
Piety, religious practice, the husband and father is the imam for the family he’s going to lead his wife and children in prayer on a daily basis and they’re going to follow his example he’s going to set the tone for the family so if he’s out drinking and smoking it’s very likely the children will continue that kind of behaviour when they grow up and as well if he’s not praying they’re not going to see the need or the importance of prayer as well.
A loving Father the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was so patient and understanding with children that weren’t even his own and with his own children you saw how affectionate and kind he was towards them being gentle with his children didn’t mean he was less of a man or he was less manly this was a characteristic that made him a wonderful man
Helpful we all know the hadith about the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) sewing his own clothes and what he was like when he was home with his family, He didn’t expect his wives to serve him and serve the household that wasn’t their role that wasn’t what was commanded of them from Allah for a woman to do this is like a sadaqah towards her family and this needs to be appreciated because most women who are caretakers of their home often are overlooked for the difficulties and the time and the energy it actually takes without any appreciation for what they do every day.
Patience and understanding the famous hadith of Umar R.A’s (may Allah be pleased with him) wife yelling at him as somebody came to seek consultation about his own wife yelling at him and he had patience and why did he have patience he had patience because of all the things that she does out of her love and kindness and compassion for him in caretaking and taking care of the children and raising them in a good way so he had patience with her when her temper got lost just as we should have patience with our husbands and try to speak to each other in the best way possible.
In-sha-Allah with these examples our brothers can judge themselves on much better qualities than just financial stability and through that the women can also start to judge and pick their husbands based on these qualities instead of their financial stability
