The UK-based, Jamaican-born dancehall artist Lisa Mercedez exciting new single “Shahada” is somewhat of a departure from her trademark sound, representing a shift in perspective as she marks her recent reversion to Islam, celebrating a personal and creative evolution.

The atmospheric tracks see and artist in a fresh creative space, teaming up with Persian vocalist Shy who adds some beautiful vocal flourishes to the dark, piano-driven rap track. Lisa delivers bars which riff on her recent journey, using it as a way of expressing her newfound faith. The inspiration behind the track, she explains:

‘Shahada’ is the lead single dropping prior to Lisa’s Mercedez debut EP. She has been working hard in the studio securing vocals from Vybz Kartel, Nadia Rose and Ninja Man and for the May/June release.
